How to make a Boston...

School's been insane lately, and the last few days of studying have left me dying to play with clay... we've been studying about all kinds of things- brachycephalic syndrome! (respiratory issues) for the breeds that "...look like they've run into a wall repeatedly"
made me want to make a brachycephalic dog-they're rather fun!
first-you make a body! Sorry I forgot to document it's process
beginning of the face- basic head structure, eyes.. some greying, as the one I'm modeling it after is about ten
and to make that precious little "smooshed" face
add some GIANT ears
and a triangle nose

using my *favorite* tool to make indentions in the nose
it's likely my favorite feature to make, as it's quite simple to make life-like and precious
as cute as this is.. it wasn't quite what I was going for.. something CRUCIAL was missing

open that cute little mouth

and the final result I was looking for...

Poncho Valentine, formerly Poncho Man.

It's been an incredibley long week, and generally, in vet school-weekends aren't much better. You aren't on anyone else's schedule-but there is much learning yet to do! I've been more than a little stressed lately, so to give myself a break for a bit this afternoon I decided to finish a Valentine's present for one of my friends.
She has a chihuahua named Poncho. Poncho Man.  He is her first dog, and she couldn't possibly adore him more. He's also about the sweetest Chihuahua you'll ever meet.

This is Poncho, with Nova and MeiXing at his birthday party last May.

I know she's just going to love it (him), it's going to be hard waiting the week to give it to her!

He has a heart at the bottom of his letter- it is a valentine's love letter, afterall.
